History In 1991 Calvary Chapel Rancho Santa Margarita saw its beginnings on the banks of Rancho Santa Margarita Lake with just a few people sitting on blankets under the teaching and founder of Calvary Chapel Rancho Santa Margarita, Pastor Gary Kusunoki. Since then Calvary Chapel Rancho Santa Margarita has steadily grown moving from one location to the next bringing us to our current location at the corner of Avenida de las Flores and Avenida de las Banderas in the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Pastor John Kanno started his service under Calvary Chapel Rancho Santa Margarita as a missionary serving in Mexico for a period of six years. After his service in the mission field the Lord opened the door for Pastor John to serve as Pastor Gary’s associate pastor. Pastor John served under Pastor Gary as his associate pastor for three years until Pastor Gary was called of the Lord to another ministry passing the mantle of senior pastor to Pastor John.
